iOS 27 introduces the next generation of Apple Intelligence, new features that help parents create safe digital experiences for children, and improvements that make iOS even faster and more enjoyable to use.

The next generation of Apple Intelligence supports new capabilities in apps that simplify everyday tasks, such as editing photos in Photos, communicating in Messages and Mail, and browsing websites in Safari. New parental control features and major updates to Screen Time make it more intuitive and user-friendly, helping parents ensure their children have the right digital experience.

In addition, improvements to design, performance, connectivity, and search further refine and enhance the iOS experience, making iOS 27 even more pleasant to use.

This update includes bug fixes for your iPhone, including the following issues:

• iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max may unexpectedly restart when Face ID authentication fails.
• A small number of iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max devices may show a color artifact in photos taken at 2x zoom under certain lighting conditions at f/1.48.
• The touchscreen may stop responding if Notification Center and Control Center are opened simultaneously.

• Spatial Reframe lets you adjust the composition of a photo you've taken by virtually changing the camera position.

• Retouch lets you remove larger objects with more realistic, high-quality results, and allows you to choose between a quick mode for minor imperfections or High Quality mode for more complex edits.

Safari

• Organize by Topic uses Apple Intelligence to sort your tabs by analyzing web pages and automatically grouping similar tabs.
• Notify Me can periodically check a webpage for updates, such as price changes and product availability.
• Describe an Extension allows you to create a custom extension using natural language to modify how website content or layouts are displayed.

Image Playground

• The completely redesigned Image Playground app uses a new generative model to create high-quality images in almost any style, including photorealistic styles.
• You can customize images using touch controls and natural language.
• Personalized suggestions can generate Lock Screen backgrounds and Contact Posters.

Shortcuts

• Describe a Shortcut allows you to create or refine a shortcut using natural language.

Home

• Related accessory notifications are summarized into a single notification.
• Video descriptions for HomeKit Secure Video recordings summarize what is happening in footage for eligible iCloud+ subscribers.
• Camera footage search allows eligible iCloud+ subscribers to find specific moments from HomeKit Secure Video cameras using searches in the Home app or Spotlight.

Calendar

• Describe an Event lets you create events using natural language, with Apple Intelligence automatically filling in details such as time, location, invitees, and title.

Phone

• Conversation Context understands when you're speaking with a specific business and proactively displays relevant information from across your apps, such as confirmation codes or reservation numbers.

Accessibility

• VoiceOver improvements include:
  • More detailed and contextual understanding of photos, diagrams, and screenshots.
  • A conversational experience that lets you ask questions about your screen or surroundings.
  • A new integrated Action Button experience for getting quick answers.
• An enhanced Magnifier experience provides conversational visual assistance for users with low vision, featuring:
  • A high-contrast interface.
  • Natural-language controls for zoom and other Magnifier functions.
• A smarter Accessibility Reader uses intelligence to improve text cleanup and formatting, image support, table rendering, on-demand summaries, and translations.

Additional Enhancements

• More ways to create and edit Genmoji.
• Automatic proofreading.
• More accurate on-device dictation on iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro models, and later devices.

Child Safety

• Improved setup experience for new child accounts allows parents to choose exactly which apps children can access when setting up an iPhone.
• Ask to Browse allows parents to approve new websites before children can visit them.
• Communication Safety has been expanded to help intervene before children view graphic or violent content in shared photos and videos.
• Time Limits help parents establish boundaries for app usage in Entertainment, Games, and Social Media categories based on expert recommendations and a child's age.
• Schedules enable parents to determine which apps can be used at different times of the day, on weekdays, and weekends.
• Updated Screen Time settings provide an at-a-glance overview of device usage and allow parents to make adjustments with just a few taps.

System Improvements

• Liquid Glass improvements provide better readability, and a new slider in Settings lets you adjust the appearance of Liquid Glass from very clear to fully tinted.
• Faster performance throughout the system, including:

  • Transferring files via AirDrop
• Improved search delivers more relevant and comprehensive results in Spotlight, Photos, and Mail.
